Vision

Issaquah is a wonderful , growing community -- blessed with natural beauty that would impress people from all corners of the globe. Making sure we maintain this natural beauty for future generations is part of the reason I decided to throw my hat into the ring for Issaquah City Council this fall.

With the economy slowing worldwide, we still have an impressive economic profile. We are creating jobs and stimulating the economic vitality for our residents and business owners.

It is that desire to grow and thrive – but not jeopardize the environment that gives Issaquah the unique value it has. And, it’s that challenge that will keep me focused if I should win your vote.

I come from two very distinct backgrounds: 1) a happy childhood growing up in King County, loving the environment and independence of the Pacific Northwest, and 2) an early profession as a successful banker for Bank of America, the youngest Managing Director in an organization with 180,000 employees.

I gave up that successful New York banking career to return to Washington, get my Master’s Degree at UW (Master's in Public Affairs from the Evans School), and put some of my experience to work. I will open a Zeek’s Pizza in Issaquah this summer and try my hand at small business ownership.

The success of Issaquah will come from responsible growth. The demographics of the Puget Sound Region dictate that growth will come to Issaquah. Our challenge is to make sure we grow in the right way, not to fight the concept of growth, but not to lower our standards. If we are smart, we can be successful in the battle for responsible growth.

There is no chance for success if our goal is to prevent growth of any kind.

The right growth entails high density development in selected areas of our community. Higher density will enable us to secure more of our community as permanent open space. It also enables us to leverage the benefits of public transportation. Committing to density will enable Issaquah to attract State and Federal dollars to enhance our infrastructure.
